What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication is a great way to keep up to date with the latest news and events from Places Matter!  RSS informs you every time one of these sections is upated and can notify you of these updates within your internet browser or through a software application on your computer.

You can subscribe to RSS feeds in several different ways.

Within your Internet browser

Internet Explorer 7

Subscribing to RSS feeds with the Internet Explorer 7 browser is easy. Simply click on the link above and click Subscribe in the popup window that appears.

Mozilla Firefox

The Mozilla FIrefox internet browser allows you to stay upated with RSS feeds through Live Bookmarks. Simply click on the link above and select the software you wish to use to subscribe to the feed. We recommend you select Live Bookmarks unless you have other RSS software installed that you wish to use.

Using an online application

Updates from our RSS feed can appear on popular Internet home pages such as Google and Yahoo. iGoogle and MyYahoo are home pages which you can customise to feature the news, weather, images and feeds of your choice. You can use this feature of both sites by first signing up for one of their free email accounts.

If you visit these sites once you have signed up, you will be then be able to log into your personalised home page and begin to customise it. Both have options to add in RSS feeds. Simply copy the following URL into the relevant box: http://www.placesmatter.co.uk/news/rss.

Using a desktop application

Most modern operating systems allow you to view feed updates directly on your computer's desktop. Please refer to your operating system's documentation for specific information.
