People make Places, Places make People, Places Matter!

Places Matter! has commissioned new research into the economic value of good design during the recession. Research published by Places Matter! in 2007 argued that design could add up to 20% in rental and capital value and speed up the lettings and sales rate of a scheme. For 2009 Places Matter! is publishing a follow-up report revisiting these findings to explore how they have been affected by the current economic climate. Interested? Find out more…

Public Space category of this year’s England’s Northwest Tourism Awards. The prestigious awards, organised by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, have come to represent the very best of the region’s tourism industry. The Public Space

A national one day conference from RUDI and Places Matter! to bring together all
those involved in placemaking, art and design that have an interest in creating
unique, interesting and stimulating places for people to live, work and play in.
The event will explore collaborative working practices, the role of artists and the
creative community in making better places, how projects can and should be funded
and ways of involving the people that live and work in the places to be
